Most rental companies rent car seats. Bringing your own is usually cheaper if you're flying with kids anyway.

Route pacing

Halve adult daily distance. Aim for a mid-morning start, a big lunch stop, and a mid-afternoon finish.

What kids remember

Not the drives. The town nights, the beach afternoons, the weird roadside stops. Design the trip around those.
